Level 3 Food Safety

Who is the course for ?

The Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety is primarily intended for those working in a supervisory role in a food environment, and meets the requirements for training recommended in the Industry guides to good practice for those with supervisory or management responsvbilities.  Learners may probably be already working in a food related role or have significant expereince of food handling.  The course was formally known as the Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate

Job Roles may include, Retail supervisor, Chefs, Production supervisors, Owner/Mangers of smaller food operations

This course is suitable for those looking to train other to Level 2 (suitable training qualification required)

What will I learn ?

Learners gaining this qualification will be able to demonstrate a wide  knowledge of food safety, good hygiene practices, legislation and supervision in a food environment.They will be able to take responsiblilty for the competency of the work force, actively identify food safety hazards, implement effective conrol measures and take corrective actions where critical limits are breached.

Topics include Food Storage, Preparation and Cooking, Food Service, Cleaning and Disinfection, Food Poisoning and Foodbourne Illness, Personal Hygiene, Training, Pest Control, Supervision, Legislation, and Food Safety Management Systems (HACCP)

How will I be assessed ?

The course is assessed by a 2 Hour, 60 question multi choice question paper.

The nationally accredited course is externally marked and certificated by one of the following Awarding Organisations

Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC)

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)

Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH)

How long will the course last ?

The course is delivered over 18 hours plus examination time (3 day)
